My birthday is months away, but Wendy got me a present and she made me try it on because it's a 30-day return policy. Now I can bike to work in the winter in style: http://outdoorsurvivalcanada.com/product/nevluk/ Yes, it's fur (at the top) and goose down, but I tried to go the vegan shoe route and the shoes just fall apart and they were made in Pakistan. Fair trade, sure, but flying stuff from Pakistan can't be good for the environment. From what I understand, fur is way better than synthetic for not freezing up when wet. I don't need something rated to -40 when I'm biking anyway, but I'm not going to argue with her about it. :)

cwebber's meta-federation rule
Christopher Allan Webber at 2017-04-29T22:24:34Z
On any federated system with less than a million users, a minimum of one fifth of communication federated through the network will be discussions or debates over communication federating through the network.

Show all 5 repliesThe proportion of meta-federation communication is also guaranteed to be higher between multiple implementations of the same federation protocol.
As the federated system grows to more than a million users, its content becomes less interesting to me and I find the next p2p hipster hangout.Maybe the next one will be truly peer to peer :)

Not a silo, it's a federated system, and actually federates with pre-existing GNU Social servers and other OStatus-using services, besides the different Mastodon servers.
In the nearish future, it will also federate with Pump and other ActivityPub adopters, too (Diaspora might be in there).
Also, it's not possible to federate with Twitter.com, that's a given. Now that's a silo =)

sounds too much like it might do too much third party stuff,
I lost trust in npm altogether a while ago because of there being too many third party depedencies and too much complexity in everything.
I am just a bit worried about that trend in recent years pretty much everywhere (not just around node or npm) of so many dependencies pulling in more dependencies pulling in more dependencies.pulling in more dependencies. how long can each chain in every branch of that get?
how many additonal things do I beed to trust when I install a package?.
(yes I know there are no univeral "correct" answers to such questions just putting them out there because they express a very REAL fear)
sorry probably off-topic and not really related to pump.io -
I have only positive feelings about the community and a movement forward for the code gets a YAY here!

@cwebber@identi.ca I agree. It's cruel, expensive and apparently futile

Interactions with this post in the Meanwhile feed made me realize that Pumpa is apparently "being careful" and ensuring the Title field has proper HTML entities in place of special characters.
But apparently the title field does not expect HTML formatting, which causes the "posted a comment in reply to Blah < bleh >" beauty =)
I'll let @sazius know.
