Para mí la estabilidad depende del punto de vista de cada uno, es en parte algo subjetivo. A mi me va bien.

Tienes que hacer login en OMBX e ir a los ajustes (Settings) de tu perfil. Ahí creas una Application Password para Thunderbird. Le das un nombre a la aplicación (Thunderbird, por ejemplo) y te aparecerá una contraseña del tipo "Thunderbird:TOCHO_LARGO" (sin las comillas). Es muy importante que en la contraseña la aplicación tenga el mismo nombre con las mayúsculas y minúsculas que tenga en el nombre que le pusiste. Esa contraseña es la que tienes que configurar en Thunderbird con los parámetros que te dicen en Settings -> IMAP/SMTP Access (con la contraseña que creaste para TB).
Yo tuve problemas con KMail porque el navegador que usaba me ponía kmail:... cuando era KMail:... (el nombre que le había dado a la aplicación externa era KMail), y la contraseña con minúsculas no era la correcta.
