Response from Senator Tillis on 3-3-22

Dear Mr. Ross:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me about H.R. 3755, the Women’s Health Protection Act. I appreciate hearing from you.
The full Senate voted on whether to end debate on H.R. 3755 and proceed to a final vote. I voted against proceeding because H.R. 3755 would allow for late-term abortions and would nullify sanctity of life laws across the country.
I am pro-life and believe all life is sacred. Life is God’s greatest gift, and we are all thankful every day for the precious gifts of our children and grandchildren. I will always support the millions of people who continue to fight for life, whether through adopting a child, fostering a child, or advocating for laws to protect the unborn.
For example, I am a proud cosponsor of S. 61, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would end late-term abortions because neuroscience and ultrasound technology have made it clear that unborn babies at this gestational age can feel pain. Other legislation I cosponsored would prevent U.S. foreign aid from funding abortions, prohibit federal funding for Planned Parenthood, require appropriate care to be given to abortion survivors, require abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, and require abortion providers to dispose of fetal remains as human remains. To read more about the pro-life legislation I recently cosponsored, I encourage you to go to: https://www.tillis.senate.gov/2021/1/tillis-reaffirms-commitment-to-protecting-life
As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I serve on the committee with jurisdiction over sanctity of life issues. Please know, sanctity of life legislation comes before the Judiciary Committee or the full Senate, I will keep your views in mind.
Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me again about other issues that are important to you.
Sincerely,
Thom Tillis U.S. Senator
