I understand if as an editor you feel personally attached to the spec, but it grew from pre-existing work and from a group process, and it looks the way it does for reasons. Everybody wants Perfect (and means a different thing), but a standard at all is a good start.

Maybe some people want it to be SSB/Patchwork, some want it to be Zot and some want it to be Diaspora*, but those things already exist. This is a new thing with great overlap, but with its own background in a set of use cases and forces.

AP is incomplete, in particular when it comes to privacy and message integrity. Given the new breathing room, maybe that can be addressed better. By everyone interested.
