Nowdays, the Venture capital is not buying technolgies or solutions.

It's putting money on hypes.

So that, we aren't likely to see a self-driving car by 2020, we will never see this Artificial Intelligence doing this or that, just because 99% of everything being announced is pure hype. It's made up in order to get money from the Venture Capital. Almost none of those "solutions" will be on the market, ever, and none of them will "change our life".

Highways will likely keep "stupid" as now, and you will never play chess with your dishwasher.

All of this has to come, sure. I'm not saying Artificial Intelligence will not come. I'm saying this amazing Startup which received 6 billions because of its amazing still-prototype of AI will achieve nothing. Artificial Intelligence will eventually hit the market. Hypes will not.

The question is: if this will originate in the silicon Valley (which is now a pure Hype Industry), or somewhere else, like China. And the second problem is, it will probably never be announced: innovation will just hit the market.

Most disruptive innovations were never announced. They just hit the market.

Nobody announced Uber, or airBnB. They just arrived. Nobody announced the cloud: it just arrived.

When I read announces like "technology X will change our life" I just take it as a fairytale. Technology changes your life here and now. And the press follows. Press was never able to ancitipate a trend. Press always followed trends. Press saying "this WILL change our life" is just selling fairytales.

"This technology HAS changed our life" or "this technology IS changing our life" makes sense. Big changes are never announced years in advance.

Changes are here and now, or nothing will happen. Nothing will happen. Things are happening, or happened. Future is just hype for venture capital. Technology is what just exists. Here and now.

What has to come next is unpredictable. Besides, never happening because of hype.
