Position Summary: 
This individual will be responsible for managing system administration support activities for a large complex environment with geographically distributed systems. The position entails deploying and maintaining capabilities responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure hardware, software and related applications (network, server, telephony, and workstations).

Essential Functions
Responsibilities include installing and administrating systems, applications, and processes and ensuring that all issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner. The System Administrator must ensure network, server and desktop configurations are optimized and running continuously and efficiently, and will perform security management and application performance optimization functions. The environment includes Linux and Microsoft-based servers and workstations.
  • Provide Tier II/III support per request from various technical support staff.  Investigate and troubleshoot issues concerning day-to-day support and operation of corporate technology devices, applications and processes and users contained within or connected to the network.
  • Knowledgeable and experience in network administration including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, DHCP and Group Policy.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades (Windows & UNIX) on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, as needed.
  • Install/repair/configure, existing server, networking (firewalls, switches, and routers) and storage hardware including peripherals and related products in accordance with industry standards and operational requirements.
  • Maintain physical and virtual infrastructure systems and equipment, such as servers, storage arrays and network devices.
  • Manage telephony & enterprise communication systems (Cisco VoIP, Slack, &  WebEx).
  • Monitor and maintain software and hardware service schedules and agreements.
  • Perform daily backup operation activities, ensuring all required file systems and data successfully backed-up to appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks.  
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes (reviewing system and application logs and monitoring services).
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions or security concerns.
  • Provide after-hour/on-call support for assigned areas.

Required Education, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
  • Experience as a Project Lead with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Experience providing support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Familiarity with Server 2008R2, Server 2012R2, and Server 2016 required.
  • Experience optimizing system operations and resources utilization, and performing system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Experience configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems and installing/loading operating systems software.
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring network components and implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
  • Must have a solid understanding of information security principles and practices.
  • Must have experience in or familiarity with the following systems: Windows/Linux operating systems, VMware, and Networking: Switches, Routers, LANs, & cabling.
  • Must be an independent thinker capable of working proficiently independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds
