My network speeds on my desktop are slow. Laptop is fine. All updates on #ubuntu 17.10...I'm using XFCE but cat /etc/*lease just says ubuntu, so I don't know. I think the laptop is running 17.04, but I just turned it off. If that's useful, happy to check.

Anyway, any thoughts on things to check? Could it be meltdown related? I suspect my cat may have damaged the antennae. Is there a way I could test throughput of the hardware?

upgrade to BB didn't go well. It doesn't appear I can actually log in to XFCE

there does seem to be something wrong with gksudo or something of that nature. I'm just noting that here for anyone thinking about upgrading. I'm going to give it probably the next couple of days and then on Sunday probably upgrade the desktop.if everything seems to be going well-enough

It seems to be contagious. Now my laptop has the issue, but as I'm running the betas (or wherever we're at, I guess I'll just deal with it for a month and see if it clears up)
