I am not entirely sure. It may have been a networking issue, technically. Basically, everything I had expected to be the problem was working. I noticed my ssh connection dropped while I was away and then it wouldn't reconnect. The disconnect might have been a setting and honestly I don't care enough to find out. Why it wouldn't reconnect is really baffling though.
