So http://gambitscheme.org/ sounds pretty cool. Interpreter, compiler, can compile to C, has several optimizations, supports compiling to machine metal, not just to OS. Uses http://snow.iro.umontreal.ca/ for packages too, instead of inventing its own. Good Scheme citizen!
